(Automotive) [I updated this review below with important comments after a month.][And updated again on May 25] Unusually faithful 22-year-old Trooper with 167k miles. Suddenly no heater heat, and coolant disappearing. Car goes to the shop. Costs $600 for a radiator replacement, and THEN learn the car has a blown head gasket and a cracked head. Did a leak down test and the results were a sad 18-18-80-23. Ouch. I'm a no frills pensioner too old to DIY. Mechanic buddy says sell for salvage, or pay $4-500 for a replacement head and as much or more to install it, with iffy results. But this is the Google era. I spent 10 hours with the computer reading research reports and user reviews of a dozen new liquid products to seal blown gaskets and cracked heads. (Automotive) It is no secret that GM has thousands of unhappy customers due to bad design of intake manifold gaskets, look it up on the web. After having the intake gaskets replaced three years ago they went again, they last about three yaers before blowing again due to bad gaskets and the effects of DexCool. I parked my vehicle trying to decide what to do. After much internet research I decided to try this product. I am very pleased to say it works and is well worth the price. I do not know how long the fix will last but at least I can use my vehicle again, if I get another year of driving out of it I'll be happy.Again, it works. As an old broken down "wrench" I would have torn into it when I was younger but am not going to go through $2700 repair every two to three years. (Automotive) I used the CRC 'Permanent Head Gasket & Block Repair with Nanotechnology' in my 1999 Cadillac SLS Northstar at 118,000 miles.Here were my symptoms: 1. Overheating When the outside temperature was 90 degrees, driving at highway speeds (60-70 mpg) with occasional acceleration due to passing, lane changes or slight grades would result in the temperature gauge going from the normal 12 o'clock position to 1, 2, or even 3 o'clock. Warning messages would progress from 'Engine coolant hot' to 'AC turned off' to 'Idle engine Now' to 'Change oil' Slowing to 45-50 mph (side roads) would allow the engine to cool enough for the temperature gauge to drop. Exiting the highway and idling the engine or shutting it off for 5 to 10 minutes was sufficient to bring the temperature back to normal. The next morning I would need to add coolant to the overflow tank, so the pressure in the cooling system was high enough to push past the... (Automotive) I read all the reviews on this CRC head gasket sealer before buying and most of these sealers have mixed reviews. I think if you head gasket is just begining to show signs of leaking (puff of white smoke on start up or running a little warmer than usual) these sealers work better. If the head gasket has a major failure (blowing steady white smoke, engine overheated, blowing water into the oil) it may or may not work as well. Definitely worth a shot, it's a lot cheaper/easier than replacing the gasket. I used it on a older vehicle that I suspected may have a head gasket starting to go out. I followed the directions exactly and the gasket hasn't caused any problems. I have to recommend using because it did seal a leak at the top of the radiator that Alumaseal powder wasn't able to. (Automotive) I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this product.My head gasket started to fail the week before Thanksgiving, and this stuff kept me mobile through the holidays and long enough to get my tax return. In fact, it probably would have lasted even longer, but i just flushed the cooling system and now the leak is back. This product doesn't transfer heat nearly as well as antifreeze. Your heater will produce less heat, and your engine will run warmer than usual. I don't know if this is because it clogs stuff up, or just the nature of the formulation. Having said that, i wouldn't recommend this product for the summer months. It should also be said that while it hasn't done any permanent damage (heater core and engine temps are now back to normal,) it also hasn't permanently fixed anything either. (Automotive) The correct way to repair a coolant leak is to replace the parts that are leaking (cylinder head, head gasket, radiator, etc.), but if you can't do that for some reason, this is your best bet. It'll permanently seal up leaks that all those cheap stop-leaks just can't. It won't clog anything up either (provided nothing is nearly clogged already).
